The Montessori method of education was developed by Dr.Maria Montessori an Italian Physician and Educator. Montessori method focuses on a child-centric educational approach.

The philosophy behind the Montessori Method is to empower young minds through experiential learning.

Montessori emphasizes on independence, freedom within limits and respect for a child’s natural psychological development.

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. Its unique characteristics include:

  • Mixed age classes
  • Prepared environment
  • Specially designed learning tools
  • Repetition
  • Movement
  • Freedom of choice
  • Independence & Confidence
  • Respect for others
  • Exploration

Montessori @ Vidya  Niketan School

The Montessori classes were introduced at Vidya Niketan School in June, 2022. It caters the age groups of 4+ and 5+ and has a class strength of 25.

Each class isidentified by names of birds.

Flamingo, Skylark, Nightingale, Peacock, Robin and Canary.

The syllabus comprises five areas of learning, which includes:

  • Exercises in Practice Life
  • Sensorial
  • Language
  • Arithmetic
  • Culture

Children are also exposed to varied extra-curricular activities.

To instill a sense of uniformity and discipline children wear specially designed uniforms while ensuring comfort.
