Highschool > *Vidya Niketan Shines at Young Indians Parliament Event*
A group of 24 students from Vidya Niketan participated in the Young Indians Parliament event held on the 6th and 7th of August, which saw 155 students from schools across Bangalore and Kerala engage in a simulated parliamentary environment. This event provided a platform for students to engage in discussions on national issues, form political parties, elect leaders, and propose policies.
The students from Vidya Niketan excelled in various roles, with Rudra Nadgouda (Grade 11) being elected as the Leader of the House and Heba Kuruvilla (Grade 12) as the Leader of the Opposition. Arfa Shah (Grade 10) was nominated for Deputy Speaker, and Dhruv Koshy played a temporary leadership role within his party.
The event concluded with Vidya Niketan securing four awards out of the 13 distributed:
– *Best Leader of the House*: Rudra Nadgouda (Grade 11)
– *Best Research Presentation*: Vidhu Utthapa (Grade 9)
– *Best Speaker*: Arfa Shah (Grade 10)
– *Most Valuable Participant*: Anirudh Vijayan (Grade 11)
The students also had the opportunity to interact with members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, the Rajya Sabha, and ex-IFS officers, along with a visit to the Vidhana Soudha Assembly Hall.
