The 39th senior school sports meet held on November 30th 2024 was a resounding success! What with the weather gods showering us not with rains but with their benevolence and kindness, the students sprinted and stretched under grey skies thankfully with no outbursts from the clouds. The spectators including students, staff and parents alike, got to witness several track events all while munching on crunchy vadas and feather soft idlis and sipping on a chilled glass of sugarcane juice. The trumpets blared and the drums were in action right through the march past, very meticulously performed by the students of our four houses Vyasa, Vasishta, Vishwamitra and Valmiki. This was followed by the esteemed torchbearer ceremony commemorating our successful athletes commending their feats in a variety of sports events. The diversity in the athletic achievements in VNS is something we are all proud of. The track events rolled on through the day with parents, staff and students cheering raucously for their respective houses. The sports meet ended with Vyasa taking the trophy and Vasishta coming in in second place. Vishwamitra and Valmiki bagged the 3rd and 4th place respectively. A special mention to our school band that was dressed to perfection and indeed a delight to watch!

The trophies and medals gleamed, the winners were content and the ones who were defeated didn’t lose heart and held their heads high with hope for the upcoming year.

Sports days at VNS have always been a melting pot of diverse sporting talents with everyone going home with a smile on their faces. It not only teaches us true sportsmanship and teamwork but also that opportunities should be taken on with utmost enthusiasm no matter the outcome. Here’s to holding the VNS flag high for all our sports meets to come!
