Sustainability, recycling and conservation
- VNS tries every possible way to save paper. Books are recycled whenever possible.
- Jute pouches for stationery are provided to the students along with pencils/colour pencils made up of recycled paper.
- All the books are being covered with brown paper and not plastic sheets, to eliminate the use of plastics.
- All the used documents/papers are being shredded in a paper shredder and the waste is sent for recycling.
- Rain water harvesting has been implemented.
- A water recycling plant has been installed.
- The wet waste from the kitchen and classrooms are collected and converted as compost in the vermiculture and re-used as fertilizers for the garden. The dry waste is sent for recycling. E-waste is collected from the school periodically.
- The school has provided garbage bins to the locality and educated neighbouring shops on the use of paper bags instead of plastic ones. The school also provides paper bags made of old newspapers to the nearby vendors.
- 60 and 20 KV Solar panels installed in the premises. Solar lamps installed in the playground and in the garden area. Power saving LED lamps fixed in the entire school.
- Incinerator has been installed for sanitary waste.
- Segregation of waste is practiced.
