On July 1, 2023, class 11 and 12 students, accompanied by their teacher, embarked on a “Cantt Walk” to uncover the hidden stories of their city. Exploring Bangalore’s bustling Commercial Street, they immersed themselves in the everyday life and unique surroundings. Guided by their teacher, Ms. Bhavana, who grew up in the neighborhood, they discovered local legends, interacted with residents, and learned about the city’s colonial connections. From significant historical events to the diverse mix of native and migrant communities, the students gained a deeper understanding of Bangalore’s socio-cultural fabric. The walk sparked important discussions on conservation, urban planning, identity, and the role of individuals in preserving history. By experiencing the lives of past and present city dwellers, the students developed a stronger connection with their city and the narratives that shape it.
